India and Italy to consolidate Defense Partnership
Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is on an official visit to Italy and France from October 9 to 12, 2023 . The Minister first visited Italy and met with his counterpart Guido Crosetto. The minister met with his counterpart in the capital of Italy Rome. Both the countries signed an defense agreement on cooperation.
Both the defense ministers held talks on issues related to defence corporation including training, information sharing and maritime security.
The defense minister took to twitter to inform about his meet and discussion. He said: "Had a warm and productive meeting with the Italian Defence Minister Mr Guido Crosetto in Rome. We discussed a host of issues pertaining to defence cooperation which included training, information sharing and maritime security. An Agreement on Defence cooperation was also signed between India and Italy. We look forward to further consolidating our defence partnership."
Bilateral Meeting between India and Italy's Defense Minister
This visit was aimed to increase the strategic partnership with Italy. Italian Prime Minister Meloni Also visited India during her G20 visit. Apart from this, the Italian PM also visited India in March earlier this year.
The Union Minister of India is scheduled to meet Mr Sebastien Lecornu in Paris who is the French Minister of Armed forces. Both the ministers will meet in the capital city of Paris. India and France have recently completed 25 years of Strategic partnership. The countries have in past engaged in buying and selling of defense infrastructure. Rajnath Singh is scheduled to conducted the 5th Annual Defence Dialogue with Sebastian Lecornu.
