In a new significant move to tackle terrorism in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army has launched the "Operation Sarvashakti" to counter the efforts of neighboring country Pakistan to fuel terrorism in the area.

All clean in Pir Panjal Mountain ranges

Through the operation Sarvashakti, the Indian army aims to target terrorists who operate on both sides of the Pir Panjal mountain ranges.

This comes to light as the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir has seen an increase in the number of terrorist activities in the area. The recent past 4-5 months have seen continuous terrorist attacks on forces and otherwise int he Jammu and Kashmir.

According to reports, Pakistan is behind these terror activities. Pakistan wants to revive the large-scale terrorist activities in the union territory as before. Jammu and Kashmir saw a major decline in terrorism and terrorist activities over the past 5-6 years. The peace in the state has been hindered for the past 4-5 months.

The Rajouri and Poonch sectors were specifically more prone to such activities. Security forces were often targeted in the attacks the latest being the attack on a security convoy in Poonch on January 12.

Loss of Indian brave hearts

It was important for the security forces to launch such Operation Sarvashakti because these attacks and activities have caused significant harm to Indian security personnel whether it is from police or the army. The cost of these activities is increasing every month.

According to reports, 21 soldiers lost their lives in Jammu's  Poonch and Rajouri sector alone in 2023 and 7 soldiers were martyred in Kashmir in three operations.

4 soldiers alone their lives in December during an attack on 2 army vehicles in the Dera di Gali in Poonch.

Various forces to work together

Operation Sarvashakti is aimed at counter-terrorism on both the sides of Pir Panjal ranges. The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps and the Nagrota-headquartered White Knight Corps will together hold operation.

The operation will not be limited to just the Indian Army, but rather the Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF, Special Operations Group, and intelligence agencies will also be joining hands for counter-terrorism operations in the UT with a specific focus on Rajouri and Ponch sector.

Operation Sarvashakti inspired by Operation Sarpvinash

According to reports, this Operation Sarvashakti is based on the lines of Operation Sarpvinash, which was undertaken by te forces in the year 2003 to eliminate terrorists in the south of Pir Pajal Ranges.

Indian Army Chief Manoj Pande recently said that the terrorist activities in the union territory almost vanished since 2003 but those sitting in the neighboring country are trying to review the terrorist activities in the area.

Close coordination from all sides

Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Adviser Ajit Dhoval, Army headquarters and commands, intelligence agencies, and police forces are all in close coordination for the Operation Sarvashakti.

Increased troops in the area

The Indian army has been increasing its strength in the Rajouri and Poonch sector by increasing troops in the area.

Along with the increased number of Troops, the intelligence network is also improved. Local public support is also improved and the Indian Army has confidence in them.
