J&K: 3 suspicious gas cylinders found in Kupwara by Security forces
Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir detonated 3 suspicious small Gas cylinders lying on road sides in Ganapora area of Kralgund Handwara in Kupwara. He official statement read "In a swift response to a potential security threat, the ROP of 25 ADP in collaboration with the 30 Rashtriya Rifles (30RR) and Handwara Police, successfully detonated three suspicious small gas cylinders found along the roadside in Ganapora, area of Kralgund Handwara in Kupwara district."
In a recent development, at approximately 8:00 am, a security team operating in the region of 25 ADP made a startling discovery. Hidden under the cover of bushes, approximately 100 meters away from the Ganapora crossing, which leads towards Udipura, were three suspicious small gas cylinders. Swift to recognize the potential danger, the combined efforts of 30RR and Handwara Police were initiated at approximately 10:30 am, leading to the safe detonation of the mysterious cylinders.
Upon closer inspection and a subsequent probe, it was determined that the cylinders contained urea, a non-lethal substance. Thankfully, this incident did not result in any injuries or damage to life or property, emphasizing the efficiency of the security forces' response.
In a statement, Jammu and Kashmir Police underscored their commitment to investigating the incident thoroughly, aiming to ascertain the motives behind placing these cylinders in a public area and identify those responsible. As a proactive measure to ensure the safety and well-being of the local community, heightened security measures have been put in place in the vicinity.
Cylinders detonated by Security forces
The local authorities have also called upon the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or objects to the nearest police unit, further emphasizing the importance of community involvement in maintaining security.
This occurrence follows a recent incident last month when security forces detected what appeared to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the Srinagar Baramulla National Highway at Hanjiwera Pattan, which was defused in a timely manner. Consequently, security arrangements were bolstered, and traffic movement temporarily halted in Baramulla. Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Army and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), promptly responded to the situation.
Moreover, in August, an IED was found in Jammu's Nagrota, and it was successfully defused by officials before it could pose any threat or cause damage. These incidents underscore the ongoing vigilance and commitment of the security forces in the region to safeguard public safety and maintain peace and order.
