Mastermind of Pathankot Terrorist attack Shahid Latif killed
Shahid Latif, who was the mastermind of Pathankot Attack was killed by unknown people on Wednesday in Pakistan. Latif was India's one of the most wanted terrorist who was shot by unknown gunmen in Sialkot in Pakistan.
He was one of the senior leaders of terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed which operated from Pakistan. Jaish-e-Mohammad took the responsibility of terrorist attack on Pathankot. The act was carried out on an Indian Air Force Station.
Shahid Latif was arrested in India by forces in a narcotics and terrorism case and was deported to Pakistan after serving 16 year long jail term. He was sent back to Pakistan from Wagah Border.
Latif was a wanted by National investigation Agency (NIA) in an Unlawful Activities Act(UAPA) case.
Latif went back to engage in Terrorist activities after getting back too Pakistan. Latif was also amongst the one who was demanded to be freed during the highjacked of Indian airline IC814 in 1999. Although he was not released by the government of India, but Masood Azhar was released.
Latif was killed shot down along with two other associates by three gunmen.
Pathankot Air Force Station Attack
On January 2, 2016, terrorists from Jaish-e-Muhammad attacked Pathankot Airbase of the Western Air Command of Indian Air Force. A fierce gun battle between the terrorist and security force personnel was carried out. The combat operation to eliminate all the terrorist lasted for 17 hours . This operation ended with the killings of 5 attackers and 3 security force personnel. Further 3 other security personnel were succumbed to their injuries after being hospitalized. In total, 5 attackers were killed and 9 Indian security personnel were killed.
