In a poignant gesture of remembrance and respect, Udhampur Railway Station was officially renamed as the 'Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station.' This renaming ceremony took place following an announcement by Union Minister Jitendra Singh and was met with approval from the Jammu and Kashmir administration.
The Northern Railway, on a significant Saturday, notified the change in nomenclature, cementing the station's new identity. The notification from Northern Railway read, "It is notified for the information of the general public that with immediate effect, the name of UDHAMPUR (UHP) Railway Station in Firozpur Division of Northern Railway has been changed to 'Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan' (MCTM) Railway Station."
Captain Tushar Mahajan's unwavering commitment to his duty and his unwavering bravery in the face of grave danger earned him numerous posthumous accolades. Among these honors was the prestigious Shaurya Chakra, one of India's highest peacetime gallantry awards. This renaming of the railway station stands as a lasting tribute to his heroic service.
In a reflective post on social media, Jitendra Singh expressed, 'A historic moment for Udhampur! Unveiling of the renamed "Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station." Saga of a "Son of Soil" preserved for posterity. Thanks, PM Narendra Modi.'
