According to PTI, which cited officials with knowledge of the development, the Delhi government has raised the minimum monthly wages for skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled employees of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

What is Minimum Wage?

Minimum wages are defined as the bare minimum of remuneration that an employer must pay wage earners for the tasks performed during a given period.

What will be the rise in salary?

According to the official,

In Delhi, an unskilled worker will now make Rs. 574.47 per day, a semi-skilled worker Rs.633.10, and a skilled worker Rs.696.77.

According to the report, all MCD workers will begin receiving the Dearness Allowance (DA) on April 1. It also stated that the government's proposal to raise the minimum wage will be presented for approval at the upcoming MCD House meeting.

The report also stated that the cumulative DA for MCD employees will be made public following the MCD House's approval of the proposal, according to a civic agency official.

What is Dearness Allowance?

The government's cost-of-living adjustment allowance for active and retired public sector employees is known as Dearness Allowance (DA).

The DA portion of the salary covers employees in Bangladesh as well as India. The basic salary percentage for government employees is used to calculate it.

Meeting held of  Municipal Corporation of Delhi to raise minimum wages

The agenda for the MCD House meeting states that raising the minimum wage for administrative and support staff will also be discussed. The proposal states that the minimum salary will increase to Rs. 18,993 for non-matriculate workers, Rs.20,902 for matriculate workers but not graduates, and Rs.22,744 for graduates and above. The monthly dearness allowance for these employees will be Rs.494, Rs.546, and Rs. 598.

Raaj Kumar Anand, the Labour Minister for Delhi, had stated earlier in October that Delhi has the highest minimum wage in the nation. The Delhi government's decision will help workers in all scheduled employment categories, including skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled laborers.
