Stalin repeated his 'tradition', appointed his son the Deputy Chief Minister

Meanwhile  the state witnessed a major reshuffle on Saturday when MK Stalin gave the responsibility of the post of Deputy CM of the state to his son Udhayanidhi Stalin. But if we look at the politics of Tamil Nadu, a similar development was seen on 29 May 2009, when the current CM MK Stalin was promoted as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu by his father late Karunanidhi. Udhayanidhi was seen playing the role of number-2

One thing to note is that for a long time Udhayanidhi was seen playing the role of number-2. He often inaugurated programs on behalf of his father. Udhayanidhi's promotion is also important in terms of youth image because there are leaders like Anamalai in the BJP leadership in the state and superstar Vijay is also preparing for the electoral innings in 2026.

The state witnessed this in Karunanidhi time

In the meanwhile one question arise will DMK workers accept this legacy? In fact, Udhayanidhi has proven himself in election campaigns in 2021 and 2024. His election speeches are in a conversational style, which indicates that he will play the role of a star campaigner in the 2026 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
