A 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, causing tremors that were felt in parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). This seismic event follows closely after Nepal experienced a devastating 6.4 magnitude earthquake just a few days earlier.

On Monday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported a 5.2 magnitude earthquake in Nepal, with its epicenter located 233 kilometers north of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. The shaking led to widespread panic, with reports of furniture shaking vigorously in Delhi and the NCR. The recent tremors in Nepal, including the earlier 6.4 magnitude earthquake, resulted in the tragic loss of more than 150 lives.

Nepal is situated in one of the world's most active tectonic zones, marked as seismic zones IV and V. As a result, the country remains highly susceptible to seismic activity.

Tremors from the 5.2 magnitude earthquake on Monday were also felt in the Delhi-NCR region. The National Centre for Seismology reported the earthquake's details: "Earthquake of Magnitude: 5.6, Occurred on 06-11-2023, 16:16:40 IST, Lat: 28.89 & Long: 82.36, Depth: 10 Km, Region: Nepal."

In a related development, the death toll from the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck western parts of Nepal has been revised to 153 from the initial count of 157. The revision was made due to the duplication of some names in the casualty figures.
