The current arrangement for the deposit and exchange of 2000-denominated banknotes will remain in effect until October 7, 2023, the RBI announced in a press statement on Saturday, September 30. This decision was made because the deadline for the withdrawal process has passed and after reviewing the situation.
While the deposit or exchange through bank branches would no longer be permitted after October 7, clients may still exchange these notes at the 19 RBI issuing offices up to a maximum of 20,000 at a time, according the RBI's announcement.
