Elon Musk Amazes India with 'Namaste' Robot - Optimus
Elon Musk, a global icon known for his groundbreaking work in space science and artificial intelligence, has once again captured the admiration of Indian enthusiasts. On a Monday that will be remembered by many, Musk unveiled a humanoid robot named "Optimus" with remarkable capabilities, sending waves of excitement throughout India.
His recent social media appearance on "X" (formerly known as Twitter) featured an extraordinary image of the humanoid robot gracefully performing a "Namaste" gesture, a traditional Indian greeting. This image instantly went viral, sparking a flurry of reactions from Indian users and fans. Some users couldn't help but draw comparisons to the classic Bharat Natyam pose, while others proudly hailed "Namaste" as the contemporary greeting of choice.
Indian users flooded the comments with their thoughts and sentiments:
"That's a nice Bharat Natyam pose," one user posted.
"Hello and How are outdated. Namaste is the latest," wrote another, exhibiting national pride.
"Namaste From INDIA," commented a third person.
"AI ROBOT YOGA MACHINE," penned a fourth user.
In addition to the captivating image, Musk shared an equally impressive video of Optimus in action. The video showcased Optimus's ability to self-calibrate its arms and legs, relying on vision and joint position encoders for precise limb coordination. Optimus efficiently learns various tasks with its onboard neural net processing. In the video, the robot skillfully sorted blue and green blocks into matching trays, demonstrating a level of dexterity remarkably similar to a human's. Even when the blocks were moved by a human, Optimus successfully completed the task. In the later part of the video, the robot performed various yoga moves with apparent ease.
Elon Musk's recognition of India's achievements, such as the Chandrayaan-3 mission's successful landing at the South Pole of the Moon, has further endeared him to the Indian populace. This mission made India the first country to land a spacecraft on the Moon's South Pole, contributing valuable data through experiments conducted by the Pragyan rover and Vikram lander. Musk's acknowledgment serves as a testament to India's growing prominence in space exploration, fostering a strong connection between his vision and India's remarkable endeavors.
