This weekend, some of the world's most powerful and important leaders will assemble in New Delhi for the G20 Summit.

At one of the most important global events of the year, US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and other leaders of state will have conversations on geopolitical tensions, economic slowdowns, and rising food and energy costs.

Rishi Sunak is attending the Summit in New Delhi on his first official trip to India as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Joe Biden stated today that he is on his way to New Delhi for the G20 Summit. Biden plans to examine the social effects of the Ukraine war, the transition to sustainable energy, the fight against climate change, and improving the capacity of multilateral banks to combat poverty.

Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, is now in Indonesia, but will be in India for the G20 Summit on September 9 and 10, his office said.

Japan's Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, has confirmed his attendance and, as the current chair of the G7, is likely to spearhead condemnation against Russia over the Ukraine crisis.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is expected to urge Summit participants to take action to North Korea's threats to use nuclear weapons and missile provocations.

The French President, Emmanuel Macron, will attend the summit and is likely to conduct bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi on the sidelines.

South Africa's President, Cyril Ramaphosa

The German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, will be in New Delhi and has stated that the meeting is still vital despite the absence of Russia and China.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan ,President of Turkey.

Australia's Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, is going to the summit during the course of a three-country tour that also covers India, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Who will miss out G20 Summit?

This year, Vladimir Putin will also skip the G20 Summit. The Russian President is the subject of an arrest order from the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges of war crimes committed in Ukraine, which the Kremlin vehemently contests. He now bears the risk of being imprisoned while visiting another country. Russia's foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, will represent his country in New Delhi.

The president of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, declared that he will be unable to attend the G20 Summit after testing positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

One of the Summit's most noticeable absences will be Xi Jinping. Li Qiang, the Premier of The State Council of China, will serve as the delegation's leader while he is away. This will be the first G20 conference that a Chinese president has skipped since the organisation of the group in 2008.

The president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, will not be present at the major event.
