According to its most recent monthly report for India, Meta-owned WhatsApp stated that it took action against 7.11 million accounts in September in compliance with IT regulations.

PTI claims that 2.57 million of these accounts were proactively banned before any user reports were received.

User-Safety reports provides information on user’s complaints

This "user-safety report" offers information on user complaints that WhatsApp has received as well as the steps the company has taken, such as efforts to stop platform abuse. The Grievance Appellate Committee issued six directives in September, all of which WhatsApp complied with.

7.4 million Accounts were previously banned by WhatsApp in August, with 3.5 million of those bans being the result of proactive measures. According to WhatsApp's most recent report, they have received 10,442 user reports in a number of categories, including safety (127), account support (1,031), ban appeals (7,396), other support (1,518), and product support (370).

Based on the received reports, actions were taken regarding a total of 85 accounts. WhatsApp explained that the term "Accounts Actioned" describes situations in which they have taken corrective action in response to issues that have been reported. This could include either prohibiting an account or recovering a previously banned account as a result of a complaint.

It also said that WhatsApp resolves all complaints, except those that are found to be duplicates of earlier tickets.

The report made it clear that complaints about safety on the platform are about possible abuse or dangerous activity.
