On Wednesday, the Bangladeshi government gave traders permission to export 4,000 metric tonnes of Hilsa fish to India
In advance of the joyous Durga Puja season, the Bangladeshi government on Wednesday authorized traders to export approximately 4,000 metric tonnes of Hilsa fish to India.
Hilsa lovers regard the hilsa from Bangladesh's Padma and Meghna rivers as well as Chandpur, where the two rivers converge, as some of the best fish.
79 exporters received permits from Dhaka's Chief Controller of Imports and Exports, allowing them to each export 50 metric tonnes of hilsa.
Our closest neighbour is India. Prior to Durga Puja, Bangladesh will once again permit the shipment of hilsa to India, according to diplomats from the neighbouring nation based in Kolkata.
Officials announced that all exports must be finished by October 30 since fishing for Hilsa will be halted beginning on October 12 to allow the fish to spawn.
Padma Hilsa sells out in the market regardless of price, according to Mintu Pal, a 42-year-old wholesale marine product trader in this city. Despite the vast numbers being given, the shipment by Bangladesh before the Pujas will stimulate the market since they will drive up prices and demand, which is already on the rise during this season.
While West Bengal markets will buy up the majority of the highly desired Hilsa from Bangladesh, dealers said sizeable amounts will also be sold to fish lovers in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.
As part of what is now known as "Hilsa diplomacy," Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took the initiative to permit Hilsa exports prior to the Durga Puja based on a request from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
