Joko Widodo, the president of Indonesia, has invited PM Modi to Jakarta.

20th ASEAN-India Summit: Joko Widodo, the president of Indonesia, has invited PM Modi to Jakarta.

Prior to the G20 Summit, which will take place on September 9–10 in New Delhi under India's Presidency this year, the Prime Minister will travel to Indonesia. Indonesia is a member of the G20 "troika" because it held the organization's presidency the previous year.

The upcoming ASEAN-India summit would be the first summit since the ASEAN member countries and India upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022.

Assess the development of relations between India and ASEAN

According to the foreign ministry, the 20th ASEAN-India Summit will assess the development of relations between India and ASEAN and determine the future course of cooperation.

The East Asia Summit, according to a release, would give leaders of the ASEAN nations and its eight conversation partners, including India, the chance to discuss issues of regional and international importance.

The ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA), which was signed in 2009, was the primary issue on the agenda of the ASEAN-India Economic Ministers' conference in August in Indonesia.

A joint committee approved a regular, quarterly negotiation plan that would see the ASEAN-India FTA review completed in 2025.

In 2018, Indonesian President Widodo invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Jakarta. In order to usher in a new era in the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and India, both leaders decided during this visit to intensify bilateral cooperation in all areas by forging a New Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
