The unemployment rate after COVID is lower than it was before COVID for all educational levels. According to the Azim Premji University study, STATE OF WORKING INDIA 2023: Social Identities and Labour Market Outcomes, it still exceeds 15% for graduates and, it reaches a startling 42% for graduates under the age of 25.

Aside from this, the report further notes that there is still little link between growth and quality employment. It was highlighted that the idea of job creation evolved between 2004 and 2019, but that this movement was halted by the pandemic, which led to a bigger increase in troubled employment.

Regarding the topic of female employment, the research notes that it has increased since 2019 as a result of a rise in self-employment driven by distress.

The percentage of women who were self-employed increased from 50% before Covid to 60% after r Covid. Self-employment earnings were just 85% of what they were in the April-June 2019 quarter even two years after the 2020 reduction, the paper stated.

According to the research, although Scheduled Caste employment has not been completely eradicated as of 2021–22, it has decreased significantly over time in the waste management and leather industries.

The representation index for the leather sector fell significantly to 1.4 in 2021. According to the research, the overrepresentation of SCs in waste management and sewerage reduced to 1.6 times in 2011 before marginally growing again.

Lower-caste entrepreneurs are still uncommon, according to the research. According to the report, SC and ST owners are underrepresented even in the smallest firm sizes when compared to their share of the total workforce. SC and ST business owners, however, are hardly ever found in organisations with above 20 employees.
