Aadhaar Card Update Rules 2025: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced new service rules that will transform how Aadhaar updates are handled. From November 1, 2025, cardholders won’t need to visit enrolment centres for basic demographic changes. Instead, they can update key details online via the myAadhaar portal, which now integrates verification using government databases. This will make the entire process faster, paperless, and more reliable.

Online Update Access

Under the new rules, anyone with an active mobile number linked to their Aadhaar can initiate updates like name, address, date of birth, or mobile number online. However, biometric updates — such as fingerprints, iris scans, or photographs — will still need an in-person visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra. The system will rely on document uploads and automated verification to reduce manual errors and processing delays.

Revised Fee Structure

Starting November 1, 2025, the UIDAI will also implement a new fee structure for both demographic and biometric updates. While the exact charges are yet to be detailed, the authority has clarified that the new pricing aims to balance affordability with the cost of secure digital operations. This comes alongside a push for users to link Aadhaar with PAN before the deadline.

PAN-Aadhaar Linking Deadline

The UIDAI has once again stressed the importance of linking Aadhaar with PAN (Permanent Account Number) by December 31, 2025. Failure to do so may lead to PAN deactivation, affecting tax filings, KYC verifications, and financial transactions. Banks, mutual funds, and tax authorities will rely more heavily on this linkage for identity verification and compliance.

Online Portal Features

The myAadhaar portal will now serve as a one-stop platform for all update-related services. Users can:
