AI monitoring will make trains shine, even in general coaches, like in first-class
Indian Railways is now leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to address the cleanliness problem in trains. This initiative will make general coaches shine like AC coaches.
Cleanliness is often a major concern during train travel. Now, AI-based cleaning is being monitored on trains. Laxman Jain, Chief Project Engineer at the Railway Information Center, told TV9 Bharatvarsh in an exclusive interview that AI will now monitor train cleanliness. He said that this AI-based cleaning system has been implemented on a pilot basis in 100 trains across the country.
It is noteworthy that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav recently claimed that the same level of cleanliness as in first-class AC coaches will now be ensured in general class.
How will the cleaning be done?
Laxman Jain explained that cleaning staff must first take a photo of themselves upon boarding the train and upload it to the app. Next, they must take a photo of the toilet they are cleaning and upload it. It's also mandatory to send a photo after cleaning.
How does the AI monitor?
After the staff sends the photo, the AI analyzes it and determines whether the toilet was cleaned properly. If the AI determines that the cleaning hasn't been done according to the prescribed standards, it can warn the staff and even impose a fine.
