Passengers faced significant difficulties due to IndiGo flight cancellations. The first week of December saw the most disruption, as hundreds of IndiGo flights were cancelled during this period. This resulted in significant financial losses for passengers.

Following this, the DGCA took strict action against the airline. Now, IndiGo has announced relief for passengers affected by the large number of flight cancellations on December 3rd, 4th, and 5th. The company said that affected passengers will be given compensation ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000 as per government rules.

Rules regarding the travel voucher

The airline has also announced the issuance of additional travel vouchers worth up to Rs. 10,000 for the most affected passengers. This decision is considered significant relief for passengers whose travel plans were suddenly disrupted and who faced considerable inconvenience.

The special feature of this travel voucher is that it can be used anytime within the next 12 months. Passengers can use these vouchers for any IndiGo domestic flight within India or on international routes.

IndiGo stated that the Rs. 10,000 travel voucher will be given to passengers whose travel plans were changed multiple times, meaning their flights were repeatedly rescheduled, or who had to wait for extended periods at the airport. Passengers are advised to check the messages sent to their registered email and mobile number to facilitate the process of claiming compensation and vouchers. Indigo Apologizes to Passengers

According to the company, the compensation amount will be provided under the guidelines set by the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation). Passengers whose flights were canceled due to the airline are entitled to this compensation as per the rules.

Indigo clarified that the compensation amount will be based on the flight distance, ticket class, and the inconvenience caused to the passenger. The aim is to mitigate the financial losses and unnecessary trouble faced by the passengers.
