Lava Play Ultra 5G Gaming Smartphone: Lava is preparing to launch its first gaming-centric smartphone, the Play Ultra 5G, on August 20. The company teased the device on X (formerly Twitter), revealing a bold new design and fresh features aimed at gamers.

Display and Design

The Play Ultra 5G is expected to sport a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smoother visuals while gaming. Leaked renders show a large square camera island on the back with “64MP AI Matrix Camera” branding, likely using the Sony IMX682 sensor. The smartphone is expected to debut in dark blue and white colour options with a sleek glass back.

Power-Packed Performance

For performance, the device is tipped to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC, paired with UFS 3.1 storage for faster speeds. Lava may also introduce a Gameboost Mode, promising lag-free gameplay. Other expected gaming enhancements include dual stereo speakers, dual microphones with noise cancellation, and even a 3.5mm headphone jack — a rare feature in today’s smartphones.

Cameras and Battery

On the camera front, the phone may feature a 64MP AI Matrix primary sensor alongside a secondary 2MP lens. For selfies, users can expect a punch-hole front camera. Powering the device could be a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging, ensuring longer playtime with quick top-ups.

Price and Competition

While Lava has not announced the price officially, reports hint at a sub-₹20,000 tag, putting the Play Ultra 5G in direct competition with iQOO and Realme in the mid-range gaming smartphone category.
