Xiaomi 17 Pro Max Launched: Dual Screens, Snapdragon 8 Elite and Leica Cameras
Xiaomi 17 Pro Max Launched: Xiaomi has finally unveiled the 17 Pro Max in China, confirming weeks of speculation. The new flagship joins the 17 series alongside the 17 Pro, and while the name may remind you of Apple, it’s the design that sparks familiarity too. The rear camera layout looks heavily inspired by Apple’s Pro lineup, but Xiaomi has packed in several unique features to stand out.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Power
This is the first smartphone to run on the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It also boots Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 3, built on Android 16, ensuring faster performance and smoother AI integration. Combined with premium hardware, the device sets a new benchmark for flagship Android phones.
Price And Variants
When it comes to pricing, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max undercuts Apple by a wide margin. The base 12GB 512GB variant starts at CNY 5,999 (Rs.74,700 approx.), while the higher-end 16GB 512GB and 16GB 1TB models are priced at CNY 6,299 (Rs.78,400 approx.) and CNY 6,999 (Rs.87,100 approx.) respectively. Compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, Xiaomi’s offering is nearly 50% cheaper.
Dual Screens And Display
The device flaunts a 6.9-inch 2K AMOLED display on the front, paired with a unique secondary display at the back, embedded into the camera island. This smaller screen isn’t just aesthetic — it supports features like alarms, AI pets, AI portraits, and even handheld gaming with a special case.
Leica Camera Setup
Photography gets a premium boost with a triple Leica camera system. It features a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. The setup aims to rival the best in the business, bringing professional-grade imaging to smartphones.
Massive Battery Advantage
Unlike Apple, Xiaomi has gone big on battery life. The 17 Pro Max packs a 7,500mAh battery with support for 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. Despite the massive power unit, the phone remains slim at 8mm thickness and surprisingly light at 192 grams.
Global Launch Expectations
While currently available only in China, all eyes are on whether Xiaomi will bring the 17 Pro Max to India and global markets. Given its aggressive pricing and high-end specs, the device could shake up the premium flagship segment in a big way.
