Bihar Board 12th Result 2026: What is Blockchain Technology and How It Secures Marksheet
Bihar Board uses blockchain in Class 12 results 2026 to ensure secure, tamper proof digital marksheets and faster verification.
The Bihar School Examination Board has introduced Blockchain Technology in the declaration of Class 12 results for 2026, aiming to improve transparency, security and verification of marksheets.
Board Chairman Anand Kishore said the move marks a shift towards a more secure and efficient examination system.
What is Blockchain Technology?
Blockchain is a digital ledger where data is stored in blocks and linked in a chain. Once data is recorded, it cannot be altered or deleted, ensuring permanent records.
What benefit did Bihar Board get from this?
According to the board, the use of blockchain has brought three key changes:
Tamper proof: Fake marksheets cannot be created or altered. Any attempt to modify data is detected through a digital signature.
Verification made easy: Employers and universities can verify marksheets instantly by scanning a QR code. The process, which earlier took months, can now be completed in seconds.
Data security: Blockchain stores data across multiple nodes instead of a single server, reducing risks of hacking or data theft.
The 'software' behind results in 25 days
Along with blockchain, the board used an in house software system to automate processes such as answer sheet scanning and marks entry. This enabled the declaration of results within 25 days.
Top performers included Aditya Prakash in Science, Sakshi Kumari in Arts and Aditi Kumari in Commerce.
What changed for students?
Students can now access secure digital marksheets through DigiLocker. These documents are legally valid and can be used for admissions and job applications without delay.
