CBSE Board Exam 2026: CBSE on ‘On-Screen Marking’ for Class 12: What students, teachers need to know
Before the start of the 10th and 12th board exams, the CBSE organized a webinar. Important issues such as exam security, the digital assessment process, and reducing student stress were discussed in detail.
CBSE Board Exam 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) 10th and 12th board exams are about to begin. Prior to this, the CBSE has made a significant decision, under which 12th board exam copies will be checked on digital screens. Since this decision became public, students and parents have had numerous questions and concerns. The CBSE organized a webinar regarding this matter, in which CBSE Exam Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj provided important information. He explained that by checking copies on digital screens, international examiners will also be able to check the copies.
How the CBSE will check the 12th board exam copies on digital screens
Under what circumstances will students receive additional time at the examination center? Let's learn about the information provided by the CBSE regarding the board exams.
1,00,44,295 copies will be checked on digital screens
CBSE Exam Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj shared important data related to the board exams in the webinar. He stated that approximately 1,859,479 students are appearing for the 12th grade exams. A total of 120 subjects will be examined in the 12th grade, with approximately 1,00,44,295 copies to be checked on digital screens.
Copies will be checked on digital screens
How will the 12th grade board exam copies be evaluated? CBSE Exam Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj explained that copies will be digitally scanned and checked on-screen. He advised students that sometimes students add copies of maps between their copies, which can slow down the digital scanning and on-screen evaluation process. He instructed that maps or additional sheets should not be added in the middle of the answer sheet. A copy of the map should be placed at the end of the answer sheet, in the middle of a blank page. This will ensure smooth and speedy scanning and digital evaluation.
Digital Marking is Beneficial
CBSE Exam Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj stated in the webinar that the online marking system will reduce the cost of transporting copies and ensure timely completion of evaluations. This will make the evaluation process more transparent.
International Examiners to Check Copies
He explained that international examiners from Japan to Ghana will also be able to participate in the evaluation digitally. The CBSE's objective is not just to conduct exams, but to create a safe, streamlined, and student-friendly environment. The on-screen marking system is expected to make the evaluation process faster, modern, and more reliable.
CCTV Patient Surveillance
CBSE Exam Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj stated that strict instructions have been issued to examination centers for the board exams, requiring CCTV cameras to be operational at all centers. Action can be taken if the cameras are found to be off. He also instructed that no student should have a mobile phone in the examination center. Parents should ensure that students arrive on time.
