Known for his intense and fiery roles in previous shows, Abhishek admits that audiences were pleasantly surprised to see this complete shift in personality. "The reactions have been super interesting, especially from fans who’ve seen me in my earlier roles. In my last show, I played an angry young man with a heart of gold, the kind who’s intense, loud, and always ready to throw a punch when triggered! So when Vasudha aired and people saw me as Dev as this calm, composed, gentle guy, it felt like a complete 180 for them," Abhishek laughed. "Some fans literally messaged saying, ‘Wait... that’s you? What happened to all the rage and attitude?’ I take that as a compliment, honestly!”
The actor says the most rewarding part has been the emotional connection viewers have formed with Dev’s character. "What I’ve truly loved is how people have connected to Dev’s quiet strength. Dev brings that emotional stillness and grounding, and when your performance helps people feel that, that delivery as an actor is definitely a win," he shared.
Abhishek also recalls a light-hearted fan encounter that left him smiling. "I remember once being out casually dressed, and a lady who ran a small stall came up for a picture. She looked at me and said, ‘Sir, why are you looking so simple? Where’s your suit, sir?’ I genuinely didn’t know what to reply! It’s amazing how deeply people associate you with your on-screen persona. Sometimes I feel like I should carry Dev’s suit around, just in case!"
With Vasudha continuing to top TRP charts and win hearts, Abhishek Sharrma is delighted that his nuanced portrayal of Dev is resonating with audiences across generations.
