Actress Chum Darang Schools Elvish Yadav for Racist and demeaning Comments, says, “No Room for Racism!”
Bigg Boss 18 contestant Chum Darang has finally broken her silence on the racist comments made by Elvish Yadav. In a powerful Instagram story, Chum condemned Yadav's remarks, emphasizing the importance of respecting individuals' identities, names, and achievements.

Her statement came in response to Yadav's derogatory comments, which targeted her Northeastern heritage and mocked her accomplishments. The actress drew a clear distinction between humor and hate, asserting that disrespecting someone's identity and hard work is never acceptable.
"Disrespecting someone’s identity & name is not ‘fun.’ Mocking someone’s achievements is not ‘banter.’ It’s time we draw the line between humor and hate. What’s even more disappointing is that this wasn’t just about my ethnicity—my hard work and a film backed by a visionary like Sanjay Leela Bhansali were also disrespected," Chum wrote.
"To my fellow Northeasterners and everyone who has faced racism—I see you, I hear you, and I stand with you. We all deserve respect, dignity, and equality. Let’s raise our voices against racism and promote a culture of empathy, kindness, and understanding. #NoRoomForRacism #NotOkayWithRacism," she added.
Previously, Elvish Yadav made the racist remarks during a podcast with Rajat Dalal. He implied that Darang’s appearance was unappealing, using derogatory language. His comment—"Karanveer ko pakka COVID tha kyunki Chum kisko pasand aati hai bhai, itna taste kiska kharab hota hai! Aur Chum ke toh naam mein hi ashleelta hai…"—was widely condemned for its insensitivity and racism.
The backlash against both Elvish and Rajat intensified as Chum Darang’s fans demanded an apology for their offensive remarks. However, by speaking out against racism, Chum has become a beacon of hope for many.
