ARM Review: Tovino Thomas marks his 50th film with ARM (Ajayante Randam Moshanam), a highly anticipated period action-adventure. Released in both Malayalam and Telugu, the film promises an engaging story but struggles to fully deliver. Here's a simplified review of the film.

Plot Overview

Ajay (Tovino Thomas), an electrician from Chiyothikavu, Kerala, is in love with Laxmi (Krithi Shetty). However, his family’s reputation is tainted due to his grandfather Maniyan (also played by Tovino Thomas), who once stole a precious lamp called the Sreeboodhi Lamp. A local man named Sudhev (Harish Uttaman) forces Ajay to search for hidden treasure linked to the lamp. The journey reveals secrets about Ajay’s family, Sudhev’s true intentions, and why the lamp is so important.

Strong Points

Tovino Thomas’ Performance - Tovino shines in his triple role, especially as the clever thief Maniyan. His ability to portray three different characters with unique traits stands out.

Supporting Cast - Surabhi Laxmi, playing Maniyan's wife, makes a strong impact despite limited screen time. Rohini Molleti and Basil Joseph also perform well, with Joseph adding a bit of comedy.

Weak Points

Predictable Story - While the idea behind the film is good, the story becomes predictable. A stronger screenplay could have made the film more engaging.

Underdeveloped Characters - Krithi Shetty’s role as Laxmi feels incomplete, with little contribution to the main storyline. Her scenes appear more as fillers than essential parts of the plot.

Missed Opportunities -  The director could have added more depth to Maniyan’s treasure hunt, making the story more intriguing.

Direction and Screenplay

Director Jithin Lal’s story choice is commendable, but the execution could have been better. The film could have used tighter writing to hold attention more effectively.

Cinematography and Music

Some of the visuals by Jomon T John are beautiful, and the background score by Dhinu Ninan Thomas lifts key scenes. However, the editing could have been sharper to improve the overall pacing.

Conclusion of ARM

ARM is an interesting period action film, and Tovino Thomas gives a solid performance in multiple roles. However, the film suffers from a predictable storyline and missed potential. While it has its moments, it doesn’t fully live up to expectations. Fans of this genre might enjoy it, but it's best to approach with tempered expectations.
