Audiences hail the gripping teaser of ‘HAQ’, a gripping drama inspired by the landmark Supreme Court judgement on Mohd. 

The teaser of HAQ, a hard-hitting drama inspired by the historic Shah Bano case, has gripped audiences with its powerful storytelling and stellar casting. Starring Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi, and directed by Suparn S Varma, the film promises to revisit one of India’s most debated legal battles.

Produced by Junglee Pictures, in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, HAQ is a gripping drama inspired by the landmark Supreme Court judgment on Mohd. Ahmed Khan v. Shah Bano Begum case. Directed by Suparn S Varma, the film stars Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi in exceptionally intense roles so far.

Recently, the makers of the film unveiled the power-packed teaser, and it has garnered attention from the audience for the right reasons. Hailing the same, here’s what the netizens are saying -

HAQ brings to the fore a dramatic version of incidents stated in the book titled ‘Bano: Bharat ki Beti’ written by Jigna Vora. It highlights one of the most controversial cases in India of the 80s. A case so intense that it drew a line between personal belief, secular law, and the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) under Article 44.

The studio behind acclaimed films like Raazi, Talvar and Badhaai Do, Junglee Pictures is returning with a high-concept drama about a Muslim woman who fights a system and heads to court to demand rights for her children under Section 125. As Yami, who was last seen in Article 370, leads the narrative, Emraan Hashmi steps in as a razor-sharp lawyer.

HAQ is set to release in theatres on 7th November 2025, directed by one of the most dynamic directors today in the industry Suparn S Varma (creator of Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, The Family Man, Rana Naidu), and written by Reshu Nath.
