In a surprising turn, director Ayan Mukerji has decided to step away from ‘Dhoom 4’, one of Bollywood’s most awaited action franchises. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Ayan’s vision did not align with the creative direction the film was taking. His decision came just days after news surfaced that he had resumed work on his ambitious ‘Astraverse’ and the script of ‘Brahmastra: Part 2’.

Creative Differences Behind Exit

The filmmaker, known for his deep emotional storytelling, was reportedly brought on board to direct a script written by Shridhar Raghavan. However, Ayan was not satisfied with his limited involvement in shaping the screenplay. A source revealed that “he didn’t want to be on another journey of just execution,” hinting that the director prefers full creative control over his projects.

Amicable Parting with YRF and Ranbir

Despite the creative conflict, the parting between Ayan, Aditya Chopra, and Ranbir Kapoor was said to be amicable. There’s no bad blood, and all parties have moved forward positively. Ayan has often shared a close working bond with Ranbir, having collaborated successfully on films like ‘Wake Up Sid’ and ‘Brahmastra’.

Ayan Mukerji Focus Shifts to Brahmastra Part 2

Post his exit from Dhoom 4, Ayan is now completely focused on scripting ‘Brahmastra Part 2: Dev’. The film, which was initially planned for release earlier, is now expected to go on floors in 2026. Currently, Ayan is said to be spending time in the mountains, fine-tuning the script to expand his Astraverse universe.

What’s Next for Dhoom 4

Meanwhile, Yash Raj Films (YRF) plans to continue Dhoom 4 under its banner. Reports suggest that the studio might bring in an in-house director to take charge of the high-octane project. While some sources claim Ranbir Kapoor will still headline the film, others hint at the possibility of a new lead actor joining the franchise when it begins production in 2026.
