Rapper Badshah continues to face criticism on social media after his latest track Tateeree sparked controversy over its lyrics and visuals. The song was released on 1 March.

Although the artist has apologised and removed the track from digital platforms, the debate around the song remains active online.

Why Is Badshah’s Tateeree Song Facing Criticism?

The controversy began soon after Tateeree was released, with several listeners criticising the track for what they described as vulgar and double meaning lyrics. Some lines from the song were accused of objectifying women and even minors.

The situation intensified after viewers pointed out that the music video featured girls dancing in school uniforms. Critics said the visuals were inappropriate and insensitive towards women and children.

The video also drew criticism from some viewers who claimed it hurt the cultural sentiments of people in Haryana.

Following the backlash, a complaint was reportedly filed at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Panchkula. The complaint alleged that the lyrics and visuals could negatively influence young audiences.

How Did Santy Sharma Respond to the Tateeree Controversy?

Amid the backlash, rapper Santy Sharma publicly supported Badshah and urged people not to judge the artist without understanding the full context behind the production of the song.

Sharma shared a photo of the rapper on Instagram and wrote that rap music often includes references to rivals or cultural elements that may be misunderstood by audiences unfamiliar with the genre.

He also said that songs are often recorded long before their music videos are produced. According to him, artists may not always be fully aware of how the final visuals will appear.

Sharma added that while problematic lyrics should be corrected if necessary, judging an artist without understanding the complete process behind a song is unfair.

He also acknowledged that his opinion might upset some people but said it reflected the reality of how the hip hop industry operates.

Was Any Police Action Taken Against Badshah?

Amid the controversy, a complaint was lodged by Abhay Chaudhary at the cyber crime police station in Panchkula.

The complaint alleged that the song and its visuals crossed acceptable boundaries and could influence younger audiences negatively.

Reports also indicated that a lookout notice was issued against Badshah, which further intensified attention on the controversy.

How Did Badshah Apologise After the Tateeree Row?

Following the criticism, Badshah posted a video apology on Instagram and confirmed that the song had been removed from all major platforms.

In his statement, the rapper said that he had noticed that certain lyrics and their visual representation had hurt the sentiments of many people, particularly those from Haryana.

He said he is proud of his Haryanvi roots and that his language, lifestyle and identity are closely connected to the region.

Badshah expressed regret over the hurt caused and acknowledged the concerns raised by listeners. Since posting the apology, he has not publicly responded to further criticism related to the controversy.
