EXCLUSIVE: Bigg Boss fame Bebika Dhurve on becoming a part of Discovery's 'Reality Ranis': I wanted to inspire women of my body type
Bebika Dhurve, who gained immense popularity through Bigg Boss OTT, has now ventured into the wild with her new reality show Reality Ranis of the Jungle on Discovery. In an exclusive interview with Hind First, she shares her experiences, challenges, and upcoming projects.
The Beginning of an Eventful Career
When asked about her entry into the entertainment industry, Bebika says, “The journey has been both interesting and challenging. I started off early with a role in Bhagya Lakshmi on Zee TV, where I played the hero’s sister. After that, Bigg Boss came along, followed by Reality Ranis of the Jungle. I also have a movie in the pipeline. It’s been an ongoing, uphill battle, but I’m excited about what’s to come.”
Life Lessons from Bigg Boss OTT
Bebika describes her stint in Bigg Boss OTT as a game-changer. “Bigg Boss was the most significant milestone in my career. It was difficult being a fresh face among established celebrities, but I nailed it. One of the biggest lessons I learned is that you can’t always expect people to be as real and authentic as you are.”
The Inspiration behind ‘Reality Ranis of the Jungle’
Her latest venture, Reality Ranis of the Jungle, is an all-women reality show on Discovery. When asked why she took up this project, Bebika passionately responds, “I wanted to inspire women of my body type, which represents a majority of our population. I want to show that people of all shapes and sizes can be beautiful and capable of taking on life’s challenges. You may face harsh criticism, but if you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything.”
What makes the show unique?
Bebika reveals that the show’s format is completely new. “It’s unlike anything out there. The challenges are more intense, with lots of running through the woods. This isn’t like Khatron Ke Khiladi or Man vs. Wild. It’s focused on women and highlights their strength—both mental and physical.”
The Celebrity Line-up
The show features a mix of familiar and new faces. “You’ll see Pavitra Punia from TV and Meera Jagannath from Bigg Boss Marathi. I’ve had my fair share of bonding and disagreements, but I’m mostly focused on my own journey,” Bebika adds.
Bebika’s musical journey: A new chapter
After Bigg Boss, Bebika made a splash with her music video Boti Boti. “I’ve got more songs in the works and plan to pursue a singing career. Boti Boti was a hit, and I am excited for what’s next.”
Upcoming Projects: A movie and more music
Bebika is not just a reality TV star; she’s also working on a film. “I’ve written a paranormal movie, and it’s in the works. Besides that, I have two more songs coming up, each with a unique concept.”
Survival in the Jungle: Bebika’s wild encounters
Despite her love for the ocean, Bebika took on the jungle for her new show. “I’m an ocean swimmer, and I love kayaking. Once, I went so far into the ocean that the lifeguards had to come after me on a jet ski! Surviving in the jungle is new for me, but it’s all about pushing your limits.”
Future Bollywood Collaborations
When asked about her dream Bollywood co-stars, Bebika says, “I’ve always been smitten by Aishwarya Rai and Juhi Chawla. As for male actors, my first crushes were Arjun Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor after watching Ishaqzaade and Aashiqui 2. I’d love to work with them one day.”
What to expect from ‘Reality Ranis of the Jungle’?
Bebika promises her fans plenty of drama and authenticity in the upcoming show. “Expect the most real, savage, and unapologetic version of me. I’m pushing my limits and proving that anyone, regardless of their size, can take on tough challenges.”
Reality Ranis of the Jungle is set to premiere on September 23, 2024, on Discovery.
