Fateh Movie Review: Sonu Sood ’s Cybercrime Battle Disappoints Fans
Fateh Movie Review: In recent years, films addressing modern issues like cybercrime have garnered attention, but they require sharp storytelling and relatable characters to leave an impact. Fateh, starring Sonu Sood, promises to delve into the dark web of cybercrime, but it ends up being a tedious action drama that fails to connect with the audience. Despite its relevant premise, the movie lacks coherence and relies heavily on violence to drive the narrative.

The Story
The movie begins in a small village in Punjab, where Fateh Singh (played by Sonu Sood) is a local hero. Nimrit Kaur (Shiv Jyoti Rajput), a mobile shop owner, unknowingly lures villagers into a cybercrime trap. Things take a dark turn when a villager loses everything and takes his own life. Stricken with guilt, Nimrit decides to expose the cybercriminals but goes missing.
Fateh, an ex-special ops officer with a troubled past, steps in to find her. His investigation uncovers a massive cybercrime network. With the help of Khushi (Jacqueline Fernandez), a leader of ethical hackers, Fateh launches an all-out attack on the criminals. What follows is a violent series of events leading to an obvious hint of a sequel.
Script Analysis
While the movie explores cybercrime, the story turns into a bloodbath. Fateh doesn't just stop the criminals digitally but physically attacks them in exaggerated and violent ways. The plot quickly becomes a series of gory fight sequences that overshadow the film’s theme of exposing cybercrime.
The script, co-written by Sonu Sood, takes a simplistic and exaggerated approach to cybercrime. Villains are portrayed as invincible until the hero intervenes, making the story predictable and over-the-top. The narrative also includes unnecessary elements like foreign locations and romance that fail to add value.
Performances
The cast struggles with limited scope for impactful performances. Sonu Sood delivers a grim yet one-note portrayal of Fateh. Jacqueline Fernandez shines as Khushi, bringing some relief to the otherwise lackluster performances.
Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Raaz, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya seem underutilized in their roles, while Shiv Jyoti Rajput’s performance remains unimpressive.
Direction and Music
Sonu Sood makes his debut as a writer-director with "Fateh," but the attempt falls flat. The movie fails to blend action and storytelling effectively, resulting in an unbalanced narrative. The music is forgettable, adding no value to the overall experience.
Final Verdict
'Fateh' had the potential to address an important issue like cybercrime but falls short due to its over-reliance on violence and lack of depth in storytelling. It’s a missed opportunity for Sonu Sood, both as an actor and director.
