Forest Minister orders action after Trees cleared for Yash ’s Film 'Toxic'
Yash 's Toxic Update: A controversy has erupted over the alleged clearing of hundreds of trees on the 599-acre forest land in Bengaluru’s Peenya-Jalahalli area, which falls under the jurisdiction of PSU Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT). Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre has directed top officials to pursue legal action after discovering trees had been cut down to create a film set for Kannada superstar Yash's upcoming movie, Toxic.

Minister’s Statement and Legal Actions against Yash 's Toxic
Following his recent inspection of the area, Khandre stated that the widespread clearing of trees to set up a movie set was alarming and has instructed officials to book forest offense cases against those responsible. Khandre also emphasized that the land, designated as a reserved forest in a gazette notification, was handed over to HMT without denotification.
Yash 's film under Dispute
The forest land in question has long been a subject of conflict between HMT and the Karnataka forest department. During his inspection, Khandre was informed that a section of the forest was leased out to facilitate the film's production. He has since written to the additional chief secretary for forest, environment, and ecology, urging immediate action to address the environmental damage.
This incident has triggered a wave of criticism, spotlighting the ongoing struggle to protect green spaces in urban settings like Bengaluru.
