FTII-Trained Actors Who Are Shining Bright

We have seen multiple talented actors contributing to the rise of Hindi cinema. Many actors have achieved excellence in the field after studying in acting schools. Now that we are talking about acting institutes, here’s looking at some of the most substantial actors who got enrolled in the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and are doing wonders in the entertainment space.

Rajkummar Rao

One of the most versatile actors of today’s time, Rajkummar Rao is an alumnus of FTII, who graduated in 2008 and spent the next year visiting studios and meeting casting directors. In today's time, with films like Stree, Newton, Srikanth, Trapped, and others, Rajkummar is pushing boundaries of new-age cinema, one film at a time.

Jaideep Ahlawat

Jaideep Ahlawat completed his acting graduation from FTII in 2008, wherein he was an acting mate of Rajkummar Rao, Vijay Varma and Sunny Hinduja. With a diverse spectrum of projects like Paatal Lok, Jewel Thief, Gangs Of Wasseypur and others, Jaideep has carved a niche of his own and is constantly raising the bar of acting as a whole.

Vijay Varma

The Jaane Jaan actor received formal training in acting from FTII and relocated to Mumbai to pursue an acting career. And since then, there hasn’t been any stopping for him! Over the years, Vijay Varma has demonstrated his versatility in projects like Darlings, Gully Boy, Dahaad and more, and even today, he continues to serve on-screen brilliance.

Divyenndu Sharma

After gaining three years of theater experience in Delhi, Divyenndu pursued a two-year diploma at FTII. From Pyaar Ka Punchnama in 2011 to Mirzapur and Madgaon Express, Divyenndu has often demonstrated his diverse acting skills, be it by playing the role of a friend or pulling off the epic character, Munna Bhaiyya.

Ashish Verma

Ashish Verma is basking in the positive reviews and responses coming for his latest release, Court Kacheri. The actor, who did theater for three years in Delhi, is also an alumnus of FTII and has left a mark with projects like Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo, Atrangi Re and his latest release, showcasing his potential as a promising star. Who started off by playing supporting roles is now leading a show like Court Kacheri, showcasing the potential to headline more such narratives.

Sunny Hinduja

Sunny Hinduja, lovingly called Sandeep Bhaiyya (Aspirants), received formal training from FTII. He also served as a theater artist at FTII and participated in multiple long and short plays. From debuting with Shaapit in 2008 to gaining admiration and respect as Sandeep Bhaiyya in Aspirants, Sunny Hinduja has come a long way in his acting career.

Sayani Gupta

A graduate from the FTII, Sayani Gupta is best known for her role in Four More Shots Please and Call Me Bae. She made her feature film debut in 2012 with Second Marriage Dot Com and has also appeared in several supporting roles on the big screen.

Bhuvan Arora

A graduate from the FTII, Bhuvan Arora has learned acting from stalwarts like Naseeruddin Shah, Kamal Haasan, Saurabh Shukla and more members from the film fraternity. Over the years, Bhuvan has starred in a number of films and shows, and he registered his breakthrough role in Farzi, alongside Shahid Kapoor. His character, Firoz, was widely celebrated among the audiences and earned him rave reviews from the critics as well.

These actors, with their out-of-the-box picks, are constantly raising the bar of cinema with their acting range, all while shifting the dynamics of modern Indian cinema.
