The Royals will be released on Netflix on May 9. This is Harsh’s first project with Netflix, though he has made music for other platforms before. He recently worked on Amazon’s series Be Happy, and the producers of The Royals noticed his work there.
Talking about the project, Harsh said, “I tried to match the high standards of Netflix shows. Since the series is called The Royals, I made the music to fit its grand and royal theme. The song also includes a few Hindi lines.”
The song is sung by Matthew and Sukriti Bhardwaj. Harsh believes their voices have added great beauty to the music. He also mentioned that since the show will be watched globally, he composed the music in a way that would appeal to both Indian and international audiences.
Some people even thought the song was made by a foreign composer, which made Harsh feel proud. He sees this as a big opportunity to represent Indian music on an international stage.
After this project, Harsh has been asked by Amazon to compose for more web series. Besides series, he also creates music for advertisements and games, which people are enjoying. He shared that fans will soon hear his music in Kajol’s upcoming series Ma.
Harsh Upadhyay says, “As a music composer, my job is to create music that touches people’s hearts and stays with them for a long time.”
