Francesca Orsi, an HBO executive, recently shared an update about the show’s future. She revealed that the creators are planning for around four seasons, though nothing is finalized. She said, “It looks like this season and then two more after that, and we’re done.” This aligns with what showrunner Craig Mazin had previously hinted—that the story would likely extend beyond Season 3.
What to Expect in Season 2?
Season 2 will not cover the entire The Last of Us Part II game. Instead, the story will be split across multiple seasons. Orsi mentioned that the upcoming season will explore different survival groups and their struggles in the post-apocalyptic world.
The series follows Joel and Ellie, two survivors navigating a dangerous world 20 years after modern civilization has collapsed. Season 2 will continue their journey, picking up after the intense finale of Season 1.
