International Emmys 2024: India's 'The Night Manager' Loses Best Drama to France's 'Les Gouttes de Dieu'
International Emmys 2024: India's web series The Night Manager failed to win the Best Drama Series award at the 2024 International Emmy Awards. The prestigious honor went to France’s Les Gouttes de Dieu (Drops of God), a show available on Apple , during the awards ceremony on Tuesday.

France's 'Drops of God' Wins Big
Drops of God tells the story of a young woman who inherits her father's valuable wine collection. To claim her inheritance, she must compete in a series of wine-related challenges against her father’s protégé.
Tough Competition for 'The Night Manager'
The Night Manager, India’s sole entry at the awards, is an Indian adaptation of the acclaimed British series of the same name. The story revolves around a former Indian Navy Lieutenant who infiltrates an arms dealer's inner circle to dismantle his empire.
The series featured a stellar cast, including Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor, and Sobhita Dhulipala, and faced tough competition from shows like Australia’s The Newsreader – Season 2 and Argentina’s Iosi, El Espia Arrepentido – Season 2 (Yosi, the Regretful Spy).
Release and Legacy of 'The Night Manager'
Directed by Sandeep Modi, The Night Manager was released in two parts in 2023, with the first airing in February and the second in June. The show also featured Tillotama Shome, Saswata Chatterjee, and Ravi Behl in prominent roles.
While the Indian adaptation didn’t win, the original British series achieved significant success, winning three Golden Globe Awards in 2017 and two Primetime Emmy Awards in 2016.
