Close friends revealed that the couple had been facing relationship challenges for the past few years and had been living apart for some time. Despite multiple attempts to reconcile, they’ve now mutually agreed to separate while ensuring a peaceful co-parenting arrangement for their daughter, Tara.

Once-Loved TV Couple
Jay and Mahhi tied the knot in 2010, quickly becoming one of Indian television’s most popular celebrity couples. Their love story began at a mutual friend’s party, followed by another meeting at a nightclub where their bond grew stronger. Reportedly, Mahhi was Jay’s first girlfriend, and he proposed to her on New Year’s Eve in 2009, marking the start of their decade-long journey together.
Nach Baliye and Parenthood
The couple’s chemistry extended to the small screen when they participated in Nach Baliye 5 (2012) and went on to win the season, making them fan favourites. Years later, in 2019, Jay and Mahhi welcomed their first biological child, Tara, after nine years of marriage. The duo had also fostered two children before Tara’s birth, often expressing their love and responsibility toward them publicly.
Signs of Trouble
In recent years, the couple had noticeably maintained a low public profile, and their social media accounts stopped featuring each other. Earlier this year, when Mahhi was asked about separation rumours, she bluntly responded, “Why should I tell you? Are you my uncle?” — neither confirming nor denying the reports. The two were last seen together at Tara’s birthday celebration, after which they seemingly drifted apart.
