During the recently held song launch event, the Padma Shri-awardee Kailash Kher opened up about creating the song and revealed adding Shiva-dedicated words spontaneously at the last moment. “In my career of nearly 20 years, I’ve had multiple opportunities to sing all kinds of songs. But, I’ve started with my best from the South. We’ve sung the Tandav Stotram from the time of Baahubali. And I always say that film songs are always good, and it’s been going on for 100s of years. But, even before film songs came into the picture, we’ve always had spiritual tracks,” he said.

Speaking about the inclusion of Lord Shiva’s elements in South films, he added, “In today’s time, South films are doing wonders, and somewhere they are carrying the essence of Lord Shiva. When I realized that the film (Akhanda 2) would feature a musical by Thaman S, I knew that it would be something entirely powerful.”

Delving deep into the making of the Thaandavam song, he stated, “As the Thaandavam song has heavy Sanskrit, I received just one suggestion from Thaman after we recorded the track. His message said that ‘iske beech me mujhe Kailash Kher ka Har Har Mahadev aur Om Namah Shivaye chahiye’. Jaise hi unhone ye message bheja, maine turant wo likha - Aadi Dev Mahadev, Shambhu Bhajo Shambhu Bhajo, Hey Shankara.”

Akhanda 2 brings together Samyuktha as the leading lady, Aadhi Pinisetty in a commanding role, and Harshali Malhotra in an emotionally layered character. The film boasts top-tier technical craftsmanship, with visuals by C. Ramprasad and Santoshh D. Detakae, crisp editing by Tammiraju, and grand production design led by A. S. Prakash. Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, Akhanda 2 is mounted on a grand scale by Raam Achanta and Gopichand Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner, and presented by M Tejaswini Nandamuri.

The movie is gearing up for release on December 5th.
