Bank Janardhan was a famous Kannada actor who made people laugh with his funny roles in movies, TV shows, and theatre. He acted in more than 800 films and became a household name in Karnataka.

His Early Life and Career Start
Born in 1949 in Holalkere, Chitradurga, his real name was Janardhan. Before entering the film world, he worked in a bank after finishing SSLC. This is why people called him Bank Janardhan. But his love for acting took him to the theatre stage, and later, to the big screen.
How He Became Famous
Janardhan became popular for his comic timing, bald head, and unique way of acting. He was first noticed in the play Gowdra Gaddala, which opened the doors to cinema. He mainly acted in films with stars like Upendra and Jaggesh, and gained fame from movies like Tharle Nan Maga and Sh. He also acted in the popular TV serial Papa Pandu where he played the role of Sai.

His film journey began in 1985 with the movie Pitamaha. Over the years, he played many funny and supporting roles in movies like:

His last film was Unde Nama, released in 2023.
Why Was He Called 'Bank Janardhan'?
Before becoming an actor, Janardhan worked in a bank. His friends and fans started calling him “Bank Janardhan,” and the name stayed with him throughout his acting career.
Health Issues and Passing
In 2023, he had a heart attack but recovered. However, due to age-related health problems, he stepped away from acting. Sadly, on April 14, 2025, he passed away at midnight while being treated in the hospital.
