Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar set for new film collaboration post 'Dostana 2' downfall

Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar have officially announced their much-anticipated collaboration, unveiling the news on the occasion of Kartik's birthday. The yet-to-be-titled film, directed by Sandeep Modi, is set to hit the cinemas on August 15, 2025.

Jointly produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Ektaa Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms Ltd., the announcement was made on Instagram by Karan Johar, expressing his excitement for the project by captioning it, "Kickstarting today with some special news on a special day!! Extremely thrilled to announce @dharmamovies & @balajimotionpictures coming together for a film helmed by the exceptionally talented @sandeipm. I find myself elated to also announce the supremely talented @kartikaaryan as our lead for this story that will unfold in cinemas on 15th August, 2025!!!! Kartik, happy birthday to you…may our collaboration only grow from strength to strength from hereon and never cease to create magic on the big screen🧡🧡🧡 @ektarkapoor, being your friend is easily the best thing and now working with you will be no different!!!".

In his post, Karan not only shared the release details but also extended warm birthday wishes to Kartik, expressing his anticipation for their collaboration. Kartik responded with a heart emoji, and fans eagerly welcomed this much-awaited partnership.

Kartik Aaryan also took to his Instagram to share the news, expressing his pride and excitement for this new chapter in his career. He captioned, "An unforgettable chapter of our glorious Indian history full of valour and sacrifice is now going to be part of my life 🇮🇳 a subject close to my heart... super proud and excited to embark on a new journey with the extremely talented @sandeipm and the powerhouse @karanjohar and @ektarkapoor 💥"

This collaboration marks a significant moment, considering the reported fallout during the production of 'Dostana 2' in 2021. Despite past differences, their recent public appearances at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne suggested a reconciled relationship.

During the festival, Karan Johar praised Kartik's contribution to Indian cinema, emphasizing his ability to connect with audiences nationwide. The two Bollywood figures, who posed together for pictures and shared the stage during the festival's press conference, hinted at a positive and collaborative future.

This film, portraying the real-life story of a sportsman's unwavering spirit, marks Kartik's first collaboration with Kabir Khan.
