The first guests were none other than the power couple synonymous with Bollywood royalty - Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. In a heartwarming episode filled with love and revelations, the couple unveiled their wedding footage for the first time, with Ranveer reminiscing about the proposal that started it all. However, it wasn't all about love and romance.
Deepika Padukone and Karan Johar shared a candid conversation about their personal battles with anxiety and depression. Deepika, who came forward about her struggles in 2015, also expressed how Ranveer provided her with a "safe space" and remained "patient" throughout her journey.
The conversation took an introspective turn when Karan Johar brought up a past incident. He recalled an instance when he and Deepika were flying back from Alibag, and he noticed Deepika in tears as the helicopter took off. Deepika acknowledged the incident, revealing it occurred in 2014, and she decided to share her story as a means of instigating change. Despite still being on medication, she emphasized that dealing with her mental health is a daily endeavor.
Ranveer Singh also opened up about Deepika Padukone's journey with mental health and the moment he realized the gravity of the situation. He said, “When it first happened in 2014, I was shooting. Deepika called and she said ‘I have had a blackout and I've had a fall. Can you come home?' I cut the call and I was on my bike straight to her house. When I saw her, something wasn't right. She's in front, she's looking at you but she's not all there.”
He continued by saying, “One day at breakfast she was sitting across from me and she was just crying and there were just tears. Copious tears flowing down.” Ranveer Singh said that he felt helpless and called Deepika's parents.
