Legendary Bengali singer and songwriter Pratul Mukhopadhyay breathed his last at the age of 83. He had been suffering from health issues for a long time and was undergoing treatment at SSKM Hospital in Kolkata. His passing marks the end of an era in Bengali music.

Journey from East Bengal to West Bengal

Born on June 25, 1942, in Barisal (undivided Bengal), Pratul moved to West Bengal after Partition with his mother. Growing up in Chunchura, he developed a deep love for music and poetry. He began composing songs and poetry at an early age, setting the foundation for his legendary career.

Timeless Musical Legacy

Pratul Mukhopadhyay's songs have left an everlasting impact on Bengali music. His song Ami Banglay Gaan Gai became an anthem for Bengali pride. Other popular songs like Dinga Bhasao Sagare, Alu Becho, and Tomar Ki Kono Palpa Hai continue to resonate with audiences.
