Michael Chaves, the filmmaker behind the 2021 supernatural horror film 'The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It,' is reportedly in discussions to direct the fourth and final installment of The Conjuring series, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

Successful Stints with 'The Nun II' and 'The Devil Made Me Do It'

Chaves, who previously directed the spinoff 'The Nun II' last year, has been making waves in the horror genre. His involvement in 'The Conjuring 4' adds anticipation to the project, given his successful collaboration with the franchise.

Returning Cast and Filming Details

David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, co-writer of the third installment, has penned the screenplay, while James Wan, the franchise creator, is producing alongside Peter Safran. The plot details are being kept under wraps, but it's confirmed that Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will reprise their roles as supernatural investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The film is scheduled to shoot in Atlanta during the summer.

Continued Success of 'The Conjuring' Franchise

'The Conjuring' series, known for its spine-chilling tales and modest budgets, has been a major success since its debut in 2013. The films, including sequels, prequels, and spinoffs, have collectively grossed over $2.1 billion worldwide. 'The Nun II,' released in September 2023, contributed significantly to this success, grossing nearly $270 million globally.

Chaves' Journey to 'The Conjuring 4'

Chaves gained recognition with his award-winning horror short 'The Maiden,' which opened the door for his feature directorial debut, 'The Curse of La Llorona,' in 2019. Impressed by his work, James Wan entrusted him with 'The Devil Made Me Do It,' and subsequently, 'The Nun II,' showcasing Chaves' growing influence in the horror film domain.
