Legal Demands by the College
The legal notice, sent via a Delhi University-empaneled lawyer, outlines several demands:
- Removal of the first trailer, which contained objectionable content.
- Elimination of the short-form reference “MH” in the series.
- A pre-release preview for the college administration and student union.
Concerns Raised by Students & Alumni
Directed by Shonali Bose, a Miranda House alumna, ‘Ziddi Girls’ revolves around the lives of students at Matilda House. While the creators maintain the show is fictional, many students and alumni argue that the similarities to Miranda House are undeniable.
Committee Formed to Address the Issue
An eight-member committee, led by Principal Prof. Bijayalaxmi Nanda and including student representatives, was formed to address the concerns. The committee flagged the original trailer for its depiction of women and the college, stating that a revised version does not erase the previous content from the internet.
Awaiting a Response from the Creators
The legal notice was sent on Monday, and Miranda House is currently awaiting a formal response from the creators of ‘Ziddi Girls.’ The college insists that until their concerns are addressed, the original trailer should be removed completely.
