Mohanlal Completes Shooting for L2: Empuraan; Praises Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Creativity
The much-awaited sequel to Lucifer, titled L2: Empuraan, has officially wrapped up filming. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, this marks his third collaboration with superstar Mohanlal, following the success of Lucifer (2019) and Bro Daddy (2022).

Prithviraj and Mohanlal Share Their Joy
Announcing the wrap, Prithviraj Sukumaran took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared, “At 5:35 am today, by the banks of the Malampuzha reservoir, we canned the final shot of #L2E #EMPURAAN. See you in theatres in 117 days!”
Mohanlal also penned an emotional note, expressing gratitude to the team and audience,“What an incredible 14-month journey across 8 states and 4 countries, including the UK, USA, and UAE. This film owes its magic to the brilliant direction of Prithviraj Sukumaran, whose creativity elevates every frame.”
The actor described L2: Empuraan as a “remarkable chapter” in his career and thanked fans for their unwavering support.
About L2: Empuraan
The sequel builds on the mysterious and layered character Stephen Nedumpally, aka Khureshi-Ab'raam, introduced in Lucifer. The political drama thriller will delve deeper into the protagonist’s enigmatic past, providing answers to the lingering questions from the first film.
Talking about the project, Mohanlal referred to it as “brilliant,” while Prithviraj acknowledged the challenges of shooting across numerous international locations.
