Mohanlal Resigns as AMMA President, Executive Committee Dissolved Amid Controversy
Actor Mohanlal has resigned from his position as the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). This decision came in light of serious sexual assault allegations against some of its members, including actors Siddique and Baburaj, who held the positions of general secretary and joint secretary, respectively.

Executive Committee Dissolved
Following Mohanlal's resignation, AMMA's executive committee was also dissolved. The organization announced that a new committee will be elected within the next two months.
Allegations and Resignations
Siddique had already resigned from his position on Sunday after being accused of sexual assault by a female actor. Baburaj, who has also been accused of sexual assault by a junior actor, initially continued in his role but has faced significant backlash.
Justice Hema Committee Report
AMMA and its executive committee faced criticism for not addressing the findings of the Justice Hema committee report. The report highlighted systemic sexual abuse in the Malayalam film industry, the existence of a power group controlling the industry, and the mistreatment of junior actors.
Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Statement
The wave of resignations and dissolutions followed after leading actor Prithviraj Sukumaran acknowledged AMMA's lapses in handling the report, which further intensified the calls for accountability.
This reshuffle in AMMA leadership marks a significant moment in the Malayalam film industry as it faces increasing scrutiny over its handling of sexual harassment allegations.
