Mumbai to Get Rs.3,000 Cr Global Entertainment Hub by Prime Focus and Maharashtra Govt
Prime Focus Group, one of the biggest media service companies in the world, has partnered with the Maharashtra government to create a world-class entertainment hub in Mumbai. The project will involve a huge investment of Rs.3,000 crore (around $400 million).

What Will Be Built
This new hub will become a modern space for content creation, filled with smart digital technology and high-end production studios. It will also include:
- World-class studios for film, animation, and VFX

- Lifestyle spaces like hotels, shopping centres, restaurants, and homes

This is a long-term project that will create thousands of high-skill jobs in areas like filmmaking, design, animation, AI, and more.
Who Is Behind the Project?
- Prime Focus Group, founded in 1997 by Namit Malhotra, owns companies like:
- DNEG – An Oscar-winning VFX and animation studio
- BRAHMA – An AI technology firm
- Prime Focus Studios – A content financing and production company
They already operate Asia’s largest production facility in Mumbai, with Hollywood-standard sound stages and studios.
Support from Maharashtra Government
Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said this project will support Maharashtra’s progress, just like the bullet train and coastal road. It will help Mumbai grow as a top entertainment and tourism hub.

According to Namit Malhotra, the aim is to honour India’s 100 years of film heritage and showcase it globally. With India’s creativity and advanced technology, this hub will show the world what Indian cinema and culture can achieve.
He added, “We are not just building studios, but a cultural and creative space that will connect India with the world.”
