Shooters Reveal Masterminds Abroad
During interrogation, the arrested men—Rahul (29) from Panipat and Sahil (37) from Bhiwani, Haryana—confessed that they were acting on the instructions of Godara and Brar, who are currently based abroad. They had earlier conducted recces of Faruqui’s movements in Mumbai and Bengaluru. A failed attempt in Bengaluru was also reported, where the comedian narrowly escaped after switching cars.
Police Operation and Gunfight
Based on intelligence inputs, Delhi Police laid a trap for the shooters on Jaitpur–Kalindi Kunj Road. “There was strong apprehension that they were armed and aggressive. During the encounter, both accused were shot in the legs but eventually overpowered,” a senior officer said. Their motorcycle and firearms were seized at the spot.
Links to Gang Network
Investigators revealed that the duo was working under the guidance of Rohit Godara, who is associated with Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar and absconding criminal Virender Charan. The gang has reportedly been attempting to expand its influence in celebrity circles, making high-profile figures their targets.
Celebrities Under Threat
Police sources claimed that the syndicate had also plotted attacks on other celebrities. Recently, a firing incident was reported outside actress Disha Patani’s Bareilly residence, allegedly linked to the same network. This indicates a larger plan to spread fear in the entertainment industry.
Investigation Underway
The Delhi Police have launched a wider investigation to identify other members of the syndicate and potential celebrity targets. Authorities remain on high alert to prevent similar incidents in the future.
