Nishi Saxena Shares Her Thoughts on Smriti Irani's Remarks Regarding the Anupamaa and KSBKBT 2 Comparison

Anupamaa actress Nishi Saxena has shared her thoughts after Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi star Smriti Irani made headlines with her strong remarks on the legacy of her iconic show being compared to Anupamaa.
Speaking exclusively about the ongoing comparisons, Nishi, who plays Dimpy in Anupamaa, told News18, Nishi shared “I have immense respect for Smriti ma’am and for what her generation of actors created. But every era brings something new. Today’s actors are working equally hard to connect with audiences in their own way. It’s not about comparison it’s about evolution. Every story and every actor has their own space and time.”
Her statement comes after Smriti Irani, who recently returned to television as Tulsi in the reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, addressed the constant comparisons with Anupamaa and its lead star Rupali Ganguly.
In her interaction with India Today, Irani dismissed the idea of competition, saying, “I don’t look at them as competition. When somebody gets to number 30 in terms of TRPs, then you can be our competition, right? We were there 25 years ago. If you have the capacity to be remembered for 25 years, then we will talk about competition.”
Smriti further emphasized the enduring benchmark of Kyunki, adding,“You can’t have somebody who’s just started something and say, ‘Compete with Smriti Irani.’ The fact that we’ve had competitive mediums and yet managed to come back after 25 years that’s remarkable.”
While Smriti proudly highlighted Kyunki’s timeless legacy, Nishi’s response offers a refreshing perspective on the natural evolution of television storytelling acknowledging both the foundation laid by past icons and the efforts of today’s generation to keep connecting with audiences in new ways.
