The much-awaited trailer of the upcoming movie 'OMG 2,' featuring the dynamic duo of Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi, was released online on Thursday. The three-minute trailer offers a glimpse into the intriguing plot, centered around Pankaj Tripathi's character. In the movie, Tripathi plays a father who takes legal action against his son's school after an unfortunate incident where a video of his son goes viral on the internet, leading to his expulsion.

The opening of the trailer makes it clear that Akshay Kumar's character is not portraying Lord Shiva but rather a messenger of God. This distinction is likely a response to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) guidelines, which may have insisted on avoiding any potential religious sentiments or controversies. In the previous film, 'OMG,' Akshay Kumar played the role of Lord Krishna, which could have raised concerns regarding religious representation.

The absence of promotional activities just nine days before the release of 'OMG 2' is quite unusual and may have raised concerns among fans and industry observers. The lack of promotional efforts could be due to the controversies surrounding the film, especially considering its sensitive subject matter involving religion. The film's dealing with religious themes might have led to cautiousness from the makers and distributors, given the current political climate and the potential for sparking further controversies.

It is not uncommon for films that deal with sensitive or adult themes to receive an A (Adult) certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The A certificate restricts the film's audience to only adult viewers, indicating that the content may not be suitable for minors.

'OMG 2' is a sequel to the Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal-starrer OMG: Oh my God, where did Kumar essay the character of Lord Krishna? In the new iteration, he was supposed to portray the role of Lord Shiva, but now might be seen as a ‘messenger of god’ after modifications suggested by the CBFC.

'OMG 2' is all set to release on August 11, 2023. The film also stars Yami Gautam, Govind Namdev, and Arun Govil.
