Oscars 2025: ‘Flow’ Wins Best Animated Feature Award

Latvian filmmaker Gints Zilbalodis' animated movie Flow has won the prestigious Best Animated Feature award at the 97th Academy Awards. The film, which follows a cat’s survival journey in a post-flood world, had already won multiple awards before the Oscars.

Oscars 2025: Directed by Latvian filmmaker Gints Zilbalodis, Flow is an animated adventure that follows a cat navigating a world submerged by a massive flood. With no humans in sight, the feline protagonist finds shelter on a boat with other displaced animals as they sail across the endless waters.

Before securing the Oscar, Flow had already received multiple prestigious awards, including the European Film Awards, Golden Globes, and accolades from the Los Angeles and New York Film Critics Associations.

The film made a strong impact at international film festivals, premiering in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes. It also won awards at major animation festivals such as Annecy, Ottawa, Guadalajara, and Melbourne.
